Here are a few tips for you to be aware and to ensure that the system functions properly:

• Roof drain must not be discharged in the system or surface waters to drain towards the area of the leaching beds or tile fields
• Non-biodegradable products may cause problems in the future
• The system should be pumped out when necessary, depending on the amount people living in the house. Here are the interval of time that we suggest between cleaning:

  1 to 2 persons : 5-6 years
  2 to 4 persons : 3-4 years
  4 to 6 persons : 2 years

• All vehicles including snowmobiles and four wheelers should not be allowed over the system
• No shrubs or trees should be planted over the leaching beds. Good ventilation and adequate sunlight should be maintained.
• Holding tanks are storage units that hold the sewage until it can be pumped out and disposed. It must be equipped with a visual or audio alarm system (preferably both). This alarm should be set to trigger while there is still sufficient capacity left in the tank until the pump out truck arrives.
